A little facts about the Northen God Heimdal
Heimdal was born by nine giants (jætter), who were all sisters, his father is unknown. But there is a story, that Heimdal on one off he’s rare journeys, himself became the father of the three classes of men; slaves, peasants and tribesmen. Heimdal is a large, pale man and is called golden tooth, because of his golden teeth. His horse is called Gulltopp (Goldtopp) and his farm Himmelbjerg (Skymountain). Heimdal can see a hundred mils away both in light and dark. He hear the grass grows and the wool growing on the sheeps. Heimdal sleeps very little, he has a very important task (which means that he rarely visits the other gods or travel). He stands guard at the rainbow: the bridge to the world of the Northen gods. The rainbow bridge is called Bifrost. Heimdal is careful that no giant (jætte) comes over Bifrost. In his hand he holds the big Gjallarhorn, which can be heard all over the world. With the horn, he can warn the gods when the giants (jætter) come. Heimdal comes first to blow the Gjallarhorn at Ragnarok, when giants (jætterne) will rush against Asgaard, the gods world.
